Foodography Says Goodbye

So this Social Media Communication Project has come to an end and with it, I say goodbye to the people who took the time to read. The experience was tiring, I do not know how bloggers find the time and motivation to post regularly on time. Keeping up with blog posts, managing social media platforms and finding content to post, this is like a second job. If I had to continue blogging I would an Instagram blogger writing is not my forte.

Respect to all the Bloggers.

Guys Do The Cooking - Date or A Disaster

For a change of pace this next collaboration with Chicks With Niks's Shenika Garibis an interview with genders on their views of men cooking for dinner dates. Opposed to the usual going out to dinner it's interesting to hear what both sides has to say, therefore we took to COSTAATT and here's what they had to say.

Happy Holidays from Foodography and Ecouli

In light of the holidays, Janelle and I decided to do a little spin on some recipes we found online. Even though I hate being in front the camera for more than two minutes especially video, I sucked it up or a couple of days and did a few collaborations including this one. So the recipes we acquired were a 3 Ingredient Cheese Cake and Irish Coffee both from  Delish.

Foodography And Culture Exchange Adventures

Saturday 19th November

So recently I hooked up with another of my fellow new blogger, Culture Exchange Adventures to soak up some culture. Our lovely hosts Chantelle and her husband indulged me to Venezuelan cuisine, Arepas and Empanadas. They're simple but oh so delicious.  Having eaten an arepa before and barely knowing the difference from the empanada, I had the opportunity to see them made first hand.

Re-reheated

Shrimp Wanton Soup - bought at Kam Wah Chinese Restaurant

This is the results of me making photo shoot of my lunch after bringing it home, reheated soup and some great pictures. I would never understand how when you buy Chinese it remains hot until you get home but I love it.

Asian Experience Round 2

My hopes came through, thank the gods. We ventured back to Kaizan to celebrate Jin’s birth which was also an opportunity to expand my palate.

Rituals vs Starbucks

White Hot Chocolate and Caramel Brûlée Latte

As Starbucks made its way to Port of Spain, I made my way through their doors after all the excitement died down a bit. When it comes to coffee houses in Trinidad Rituals' only competition was Coffee Beanery, that is until Starbucks. Honestly when the rumours of Starbucks' price for coffee hit me, I for one was not spending $50.........on coffee. Knowing Trinis over exaggerate, take it with a pinch of salt because that may not be the case. Even if it cost fifty dollars I had to  try at least once for curiosities sake just to say yeah it had it too.

Those GuysDiner - Where Next

There are times when you wonder if a bad day can get any worse then you find a little shred of hope, to make a wee bit better. It’s all good now, you and the squad enjoying each other’s company in a nice green scenery, that being the Botanical Gardens. After leaving our beds early, no breakfast and packed up with equipment to be set up.

Yup, set up… did I mention NO BREAKFAST.

Doubles Diversification

As an outsider or a returnee, the one thing that is always on your agenda is Doubles. As a Trini where to get good Doubles is a debate. When you come across “Ah Good Doubles Man” (not always men) you stay true to them like religion until the day they disappoint.

I had the opportunity to graduate out of my Town Girl Doubles knowledge. I’m from Port of Spain, that’s our Capital City, the furthest to my right I’ve tried is Diego Martin, to my left is from Curepe and the once in a blue moon from Piarco International Airport.  The  Where Next crew which I'm also a part of decided that I needed a little more diversification, me all excited, and s**t we had Doubles from Chaguanas.

I went with an open mind and I must say the Doubles Men did not disappoint. The unexpected happenstance was that we were given EXTRA chana or chickpea and chadon beni sauce because of my extra short, shorts. The power of a shawty, in short pants with decent legs and not on my best day either.

What is my favorite food?

Recently I was asked what my favorite was and my reaction was mind blowing and not in a good way. Why, you may ask. Well honestly, I had no idea. I know right, mind blowing.

My face screwed, as if how could you not know. Who are you? Poor individual wondering if they committed a sin, to hear the words uttered from my lips “What is my favorite food?”

I really have no clue what it is.

Asian Experience

As the sushi rave continues with its ever-expanding availability. Practically almost everywhere has a sushi menu or ready-made and I love it... According to my peoples, “I have a thing for Asian” and it is true, guilty as charged. It all started in my teenage days with my exposure to anime where I met Ramen.
(Yes, I watch anime)
For those who disappointingly do not know what ramen is (shakes head), Google it! Just kidding, it is a Japanese soup dish: noodles served in meat or fish broth with vegetables, meat, eggs and other combinations.
For me it was what we refer to in the Caribbean as pack soup and the one in the cup, well cup soup lol. My all time favorite brand is Nissin. From there I was on an Asian spiral, from Japanese to Chinese, Korean etc. The food, manga, clothes even the dramas and not limited to those.
(Tehee. wink wink)

Friends Who Feed You

One reason I can never stay hungry is because I have friends who feed me or they just genuinely love me.
It can be that they're secretly trying to fatten me up, but I'd like to believe it's the latter.
"Friends, it is love right?"

If I happen to call, message or blatantly walk in to their house, the number one suspect is that I want food.
This does not necessarily mean that my house is food-less, it's an I want what you have situation and they indulge me.
"God bless the little charm he gave me."

The Backseat Chef

We’re all familiar with the term “backseat driver”. That
despicable person who’s not physically maneuvering the vehicle but is over exerting their brain to drive the car using your hands and has road rage with every driver on the road including yourself.

The same applies to the backseat cook.

Yes, those people.

Bruncheon Luncheon Get Your Munchies On!

Out for breakfast on this blessed Sunday at Coffee Beanery with my fellow homeless people of the day, Tenisha and Joseph. Haven’t had coffee in about a week , probably the reason why  I lost my appetite. Coffee makes me hungry.

A Late, late breakfast aka brunch because as Caribbean people we’re hardly ever early, especially Trinis. Enough about us, more about the food.

Delectable waffles in a healthy serving, the right amount of fluffy topped with just enough crunch. Accompanied with good service and a savoury maple syrup complimenting your waffle flavour of choice.

Salads

Some people consider a green salad or “whatever you call it” to be boring, tasteless or a bit on the bland side. However, it doesn’t have to be because dressings work wonders for the taste buds and a little extra pizzazz of goodness, meats or fish for the carnivore in you.

Blueberry and Pineapple Salad

Yesterday’s lunch was all kinds of good: tasty, healthy and a little bit of greedy. A Blueberry and Pineapple Salad, courtesy of my brother’s Catering Service (Amuse), not a free courtesy though I still had to pay.
*He does not mix business with this sister unfortunately*

A Strawberry Yogurt Dressing accompanied this fresh beat, a sweet delectable finish.
