White Hot Chocolate and Caramel Brûlée Latte |
As Starbucks made its way to Port of Spain, I made my way through their doors after all the excitement died down a bit. When it comes to coffee houses in Trinidad Rituals' only competition was Coffee Beanery, that is until Starbucks. Honestly when the rumours of Starbucks' price for coffee hit me, I for one was not spending $50.........on coffee. Knowing Trinis over exaggerate, take it with a pinch of salt because that may not be the case. Even if it cost fifty dollars I had to try at least once for curiosities sake just to say yeah it had it too.
Rituals did not have me as a frequent coffee customer didn't like, their chillers on the other hand yes. Something like a Hot Caramel Latte that should already be sweetened you still have to add sugar to it. From my previous post Bruncheon Luncheon Get Your Munchies On Coffee Beanery and I are on good terms. Even the Nescafé Machine coffee tastes better in my opinion.
The taste test commenced and Starbucks won after a sip. It could have been a little hotter though. I had the Caramel Brûlée and Janelle from Ecouli had the White Hot Chocolate for about $30 each. Although it is more costly than Rituals I would pay the extra because it tastes better. For the future I believe Rituals would customers because of the availability through out Trinidad, the fact that their chillers do taste good and some locations serve actually food. This only location number two for Starbucks so let's see what the future holds.
